The M4/M16 has been around for many years, as has the AK47. When comparing the AK47 vs M4, the effectiveness of the M4/M16 has obviously gone away. Let’s face it, anybody who has been in the military in the last 40 years has been told that the great thing about the 5.56 is that you can shoot an enemy in the hip and the round will bounce around and a piece of it will end up in a vital. Really? Okay, I want proof. I have been in combat like many others who have been forced to take an M4 with them, and honestly, I prefer a Glock 21, 45ACP over the M4. Just give me 7 30-round mags. We all know if you have been in OEF or OIF, most of the enemy attacks were at close range unless you were traveling, and then you have automatic weapons. The m4 carbine even as an automatic weapon and short barrel still does not have the kinetic energy or “knock-down power” of other military weapons. If it did, why don’t hunters use it? (Other than on groundhogs or other small game.) It’s time for a change and a step up. There are so many different types of weapons out there other than the 5.56. Our enemies have the advantage now with the same type of personnel armor as we do. So, let’s put something more powerful and even dependable in our military members’ hands to save ammo and lives. I’m sure that whoever lost the Colt bet probably has never spent a day out of his desk in combat. He probably has an M9 as a paperweight. We will talk about that in another article.
What Is the Difference between the AK47 vs. M4?
The big difference between the AK47 vs M4 is the kinetic energy, and there is a considerable difference. Then there are the mechanical issues; it seems that every time you go to the range, there are constant “malfunctions” with the M4. There is a way to help that: soak it in CLP. This will prevent some of the issues. The AK47 does not have nearly the same problems as the M4. When it comes to accuracy, it’s all about who is shooting it, but both are comparable when it comes to accuracy. The round size is the other difference. You cannot have as heavy a round with the 5.56, so there is only so much you can do. But with the 7.62, you can go up to 180 grains. That is a big difference over the grain size of a 5.56 or even a .223. The big factor that everybody seems to want to whine about is the recoil. They did not seem to have a problem with it when the M1 Grand was in combat! What is the big deal now?
The real issue here is that they are whining about recoil because they shoot or qualify twice a year. Then when they go out to shoot it, they’re afraid because they have not practiced with it. They haven’t shot any weapon to know how to properly hold it and shoot it accurately.
What to Do
We should obviously change the weapon our military uses. Why? Well, let’s see. They are protecting the most important people and country in the world with a valuable asset only some dream of and that is freedom! We should give them the best possible equipment to serve our country in battle and in war. We should give them the best to protect and defend themselves with. Let them carry a weapon they have strength and confidence in and not a weapon that we got because someone lost a bet. Their lives and our lives depend on their capabilities and effectiveness, and the same goes for the weapons they use.
