Prerequisites

You musthave defined one or more selection screens for the relevant program. Theprogram may have any type except type S.

Procedure

To create anew variant:

...

1.On theABAPEditor initial screen, enter thename of the program for which you want to create a variant, select Variants, and choose Change.

2.On the variantmaintenance initial screen, enter the name of the variant to becreated.
Note the naming convention for variants (see below).

3.Choose Create.
If the program has more than one selection screen, a dialog box for screenassignment appears. The dialog box does not appear if the program only has oneselection screen. The selection screen appears in this case.

4.If there ismore than one selection screen, select the screens for which you want tocreate the variant.

If you choose Variant for All SelectionScreens, the variant also applies to any selection screens that wereincluded in the program only after you created the variant

Otherwise, the variant only supplies values to the selection screens that youselect in the list.

5.Choose Continue.
The (first) selection screen for the report appears.
If your program has more than one selection screen, use the scroll buttons inthe left-hand corner of the application toolbar to navigate between them andto fill the fields with values. If you keep scrolling forwards, the Continue button appears on the last selectionscreen.

6.Enter thedesired selection values, including multiple selection and dynamicselection.

7.Choose Continue.

Result

You then seean overview screen (ABAP: SaveVariant…), where you can specify attributes for your variant andsave it. See also Attributes ofVariants.

Note thatwhen you create a new variant, you always have to fill in values and attributes.

Name of Variant: This name can comprise up to 14 alphanumeric characters. The character % isnot allowed. If you want the variant to be transported automatically with itsprogram, you must create a systemvariant. The name of a system variant must start with "CUS&" forcustomers, and "SAP&" for SAP system variants You can only use the "&"character within this prefix in the name of a system variant. It must notoccur in any other variant names. System variants are connected to theWorkbench Organizer and can be created in all clients. However, they arestored solely in client 000. Theycan be accessed from all clients.
