Deepika Padukone recently launched her skincare brand, 82°E and launched various products via Instagram campaigns, sharing her rituals and insights while trying them on IRL. The actor took things up a notch in a recent video reveal though. Padukone decided to take the dream collaboration with Pathaan co-star Shah Rukh Khan off-screen in a GRWM routine. The Gehraiyaan actor showed the basics of a skincare routine to Shah Rukh Khan as they filmed behind-the-scenes of Pathaan promotions. The video gives us a glimpse into not just Padukone’s skincare routine but also serves as an introduction to the latest product in her skincare line. Some added benefits for viewers include the palpable camaraderie between her and SRK along with his classic wit, humour and charm on display.

Padukone starts off her routine with the ‘Lotus Splash’ conditioning cleanser which works without stripping her skin and SRK follows suit. The 82°E founder’s next step introduced us to the latest product from Padukone’s skincare brand, ‘Gotu Kola Dew’ toner serum that she pats into her skin. To lock in that hydration, the duo goes ahead with the ‘Ashwaganda Bounce’ moisturiser, a lightweight gel moisturiser that also adds hydration. To lock it all in, she takes a couple of drops from her 'Pachouli Glow' oil sunscreen with SPF 40 PA+++ that protects skin from UVA and UVB rays. Through the process, Padukone makes it a point to teach SRK to avoid rubbing and tugging the skin and bring all the products down to the decolletage–an area that is often neglected. An important tip that she shares with SRK, is that no matter how lazy you are, never skip sunscreen and we couldn’t agree more.

What is gotu kola?

Gotu Kola, also known as Centella Asiatica, is quite a common ingredient in skincare. It is anti-inflammatory and helps to soothe the skin which is great for people with sensitive or irritated skin. It also works to heal the skin barrier and is an antioxidant. Along with that, it adds intense hydrating and moisturising benefits to the skin and boosts collagen production. The Gotu Kola toner-serum hybrid (or sometimes called an essence in K-beauty), is meant to be used before your moisturiser, as it is a thinner product and will go deeper into the skin, so you can get the maximum healing benefits from the ingredients and achieve dewy, plump, healthy skin.
