Please note:
- Certain functions such as calls and texts are only available on the Galaxy Watch 4G and not on Galaxy Watches without a 4G connection.
- TheSamsung Galaxy Watch 4Gallows users to use a 4G connection without needing a smartphone nearby. Users can leave their phone at home and still stream music, take calls or messages, or get notifications while out and about.

Set date and time
PLEASE NOTE: that if your watch is connected to a mobile device, the date and time will be set automatically. You can only manually set the date and time if you're using the watch without connecting it to a mobile device.
To manually set the date and time, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap General
4Tap Date and time
5Tap Set date
6Adjust the date by tapping the day, month, and year, then rotating the bezel. When you're finished, tap Done
7Tap Set time
8Adjust the time by tapping the hour and minute values, then rotating the bezel. When you're finished, tap Done
Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
PLEASE NOTE: that if your Galaxy Watch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth, the Wi-Fi will automatically be turned off.
You can manually connect to a Wi-Fi network, using the steps below.
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap Connections
4Tap Wi-Fi
To manually connect to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi must be set to Always on.
5Tap Wi-Fi again if it shows Auto or Always off. If it is set to Always on, skip to step 8
6Tap Always on
7Tap OK
8Tap Wi-Fi networks
9Tap the Wi-Fi network you'd like to connect to
10If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password or tap Connect
Adding an app
To add an app to your Galaxy Watch, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap the Galaxy Apps icon
3Tap Search
4Enter the name of the app you'd like to download, then tap the search button on the keyboard
PLEASE NOTE: that for this example we have chosen Spotify.
5Tap the app you'd like to download from the list of search results
6Tap Install
7Some apps will require permissions from your watch. Read through these terms, and if your happy to continue, tap the tick
8Certain apps require you to install an associated app on your connected device. Ensure you've installed this app on your phone before continuing, then tap OK
9The app will be downloaded and installed on your watch
Making a phone call
PLEASE NOTE: calls need a 4G connection and are only available on the Galaxy Watch 4G
To make a phone call, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Phone
3Tap the Keypad or contact icon
4Enter the phone number or tap the contact you'd like to call
5Tap the call icon
Sending a text message
To send a text message, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Messages
3Tap menu, this may show as three dots
4Tap New message
5Tap the contact icon or Recipient
6Tap the contact you would like to send the message to
7Tap Next
8Tap the keyboard icon
9Type your message using the on-screen keyboard, then tap Send
Customise the watch face
To set a Wake-up gesture, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap Watch faces
4Tap Watch faces again
5You can scroll through the available watch faces by rotating the bezel or by swiping left to right
6Tap the watch face you would like to use
Enable or disable NFC
To enable or disable the NFC (Near Field Communication) feature, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap Connections
4Tap NFC
5Tap NFC again to enable or disable NFC
Removing an app
To remove an app, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap and hold the app you'd like to uninstall
3Tap the remove icon above the app you'd like to uninstall
4Tap the tick icon to confirm removal of the app
Enable or disable the Notifications
PLEASE NOTE: that to enable or disable the notifications, you will need to use the Galaxy Wearable app.
To enable or disable the Notifications, you will need to:
1From the home screen, choose Apps or swipe up to access your apps
2Open the Samsung Wearable app on your phone
This can be found in the Samsung folder if it was pre-installed. If you can't find it in the Samsung folder, you may need to tap add apps before proceeding. Otherwise, you can download it from the Play Store or from the Galaxy Apps. For more information on how to download an app, please visit How do I manage my apps.
3Tap Notifications, you may need to scroll down for this
4Use the toggle to enable or disable the notifications
5You can now manage which Notifications you would like to see
Connecting a Bluetooth headset
PLEASE NOTE: that the Galaxy Watch can only connect to Bluetooth headsets and will need to be made discoverable before proceeding.
To connect a Bluetooth headset, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap Connections
4Tap Bluetooth
5Tap BT Headset
6Your Galaxy Watch will scan for nearby Bluetooth devices
7Tap the device you wish to connect to
Adjust the in-call volume
To adjust the call volume, you will need to tap the volume icon while you're on a phone call.
Use the rotating bezel to adjust the call volume.
Adjusting the screen brightness
To adjust the screen brightness, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap Display
4Tap Brightness
5Adjust the brightness by rotating the bezel
Enable or disable Wake-up gesture
To set a Wake-up gesture, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap Advanced
4Tap Wake-up gesture
5Tap Wake-up gesture again to enable or disable this feature
Setting up Email
PLEASE NOTE: that you will need to use the Galaxy Wearable app to set up an Email account on your Galaxy Watch.
To set up an Email account on the Galaxy Watch, you will need to:
1From the home screen, choose Apps or swipe up to access your apps
2Open the Samsung Wearable app on your phone
This can be found in the Samsung folder if it was pre-installed. If you can't find it in the Samsung folder, you may need to tap add apps before proceeding. Otherwise, you can download it from the Play Store or from the Galaxy Apps. For more information on how to download an app, please visit How do I manage my apps.
3Tap Apps
4Tap the Email settings cog icon
5Tap Set-up Email
6Enter your Email address and password, then tap Sign in
Depending on your device, you may automatically be taken to your Emails providers sign in page.
7Tap the Email account you wish to use
8Tap Allow to accept to the Email permissions
9Your Email account will now be added
10Tap the back button on your device
11Use the toggle next to your Email account to enable or disable it
Replying to an Email
To reply to an Email, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Email
3Tap the Email you would like to reply to
4Tap the keyboard icon
5Type your message using the on-screen keyboard. When you're happy with your reply, tap Send
Enable or disable Power saving mode
Power saving mode will help increase the battery life of the Galaxy Watchby reducing the screen brightness and limiting its performance.
To enable or disable the power saving mode, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap Battery
4Tap Power saving
5Tap the tick to enable power saving mode
6To disable power saving mode, tap the off button on the front of the screen
Setting up SOS messages
The SOS messages feature allows you to auto-call and message up to four designated contacts without having to dial them. Once activated anSOS message and a Google map link of your location is automatically sent to your designated contacts. Read our FAQ on how to activate SOS messages for more information on SOS alerts.
1Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected mobile device
2Tap Send SOSes
3Tap the switch to turn the feature on
4If this is your first time activating this feature you will need to read and Agree to the terms and conditions
5Tap Add to select the recipient of your SOS message
6You can choose to create a contact or select an existing contact to receive the SOS message. In this example we will Select from Contacts
7Tap on the contact you want to receive the emergency message
8Tap Add
9If you would like the option to cancel the SOS message if it's been activated accidentally, tap Count down before sending. This will give you five seconds to cancel the SOS message before it is sent
Once activated, you can raise an alert by pressing the home button on your Samsung Galaxy smart watch three times. This will automatically send an SOS message, followed by a link to your location.
Checking for software updates
To check for software updates, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap About watch
4Tap Software
5The current software version is displayed under Tizen version
Perform a factory reset
PLEASE NOTE: that a factory reset will erase any data on your watch. Before proceeding, please ensure that any data has been backed up
To perform a factory reset, you will need to:
1From the home screen, press the home key
2Tap Settings
3Tap General
4Tap Reset
5Tap the tick
Your watch will restart, and it will need to be connected to your phone again.
