Can a CVV number be 000? ›

Note that on some Credit Card software, a CVC with the magic value 000 means that a CVC was provided but has been deleted since (due to PCI constraints).

In the REST Api, the CreditCard CVV2 code is an Integer type. In our world its a string to support the starting digit being a "0". So when using the API, the CVV 088 gets converted to an Integer of just 88.

With most cards (Visa, MasterCard, bank cards, etc.) it is the final three digits of the number printed on the signature strip on the reverse of your card. On American Express (AMEX) cards, it is usually a four digit code on the front.

On every transaction you make using your credit or debit card, a unique 3-digit CVV code is required to complete the transaction.

A CVV is usually three digits, but it can be four digits on some cards. Visa, Mastercard, and Discover cards all use a three-digit CVV, while American Express is the exception that uses a four-digit CVV on its credit cards.

However, some debit cards may not have a CVV number printed on the back. In such cases, you may still be able to use your debit card for online purchases by entering your card number, expiration date, and billing address. Some merchants may also ask for additional information, such as your name and card type.

It's important to note that CVV numbers are not a requirement for processing an online credit card purchase. It is up to the retailer whether to ask this question as part of the transaction process as an added measure of security. There are several reasons why a retailer may not ask for the CVV.

Debit cards without CVVs are not approved for online transactions. Credit Cards missing a Security Code are either not approved for international transactions and/or not approved for online transactions.

For Visa, MasterCard & Discover the CVV is a 3 digit number located on the back of the card on the signature line. In some cases there may be 7 or more digits. Just use the last 3. For American Express the CVV is a 4 digit number located on the front of the card just above the card number itself.
