If you want a small RV, then you will need to look into a Class-B RV. Many of them are nothing more than van conversions. They are fantastic for couples or solo travelers. A lot of them come in at an affordable price, and they are easy to drive. But, what is the smallest option?
The smallest Class-B RV is the Winnebago Solis Pocket, measuring in at just 17 feet and 10 inches long. This Class B RV is built out on the Ram ProMaster chasis with a 136 inch wheelbase.
Let’s go into a bit more depth on this. This way you will know whether the Solis Pocket is the best choice for you, and get a brief idea of the other options that are available on the market.
The Compact Winnebago Solis Pocket
If you want the smallest Class-B RV, then you should look at the Winnebago Solis Pocket. It has been constructed on a RAM ProMaster chassis. Measuring under 20-feet long, it is easy to drive. Not much more difficult than your typical van.
As we said, there are various Class-B RVs that are the same size. Anything built on a similar RAM ProMaster chassis will be the same size as the Winnebago Solis Pocket. However, we believe that this is the smallest Class-B RV that still manages to pack in all of the amenities that you could want while on the road. This includes:
- Shower
- Kitchen area
- Bedroom
- Seating
This size RV is going to be perfect for both solo and couple travelers, although at this sort of size, you may be a bit hard-pushed to fit a family in there. However, this is going to be the case with any Class-B RV that you pick up.
Is It Worth Buying a Small Class-B RV?
There is no denying that Class-B RVs are some of the most affordable RVs that you buy. So, if you are looking to save a little bit of money on your purchase, then the Class-B RV is certainly the route to go down.
Because a Class-B RV is nothing more than a converted van, you will often find that they are a great deal easier to park than your typical RV too. You can easily pull into car parks, or park at the side of the road (if allowed where you are traveling), which means that they are a lot more convenient to use.
Of course, the downside of the Class-B RV is the fact that they are not large at all. This means that if you are more than a couple, then you are going to be hard-pushed for space while you are in our RV. In fact, even as a couple, you are going to be hard-pushed for space.
As we said, the Winnebago Solis Pocket (which is the smallest Class-B RV on the market) does pack a lot into the small space. However, it is going to be a bit of a tight squeeze. For example; while there is going to be a shower inside of the RV, there is not going to be a huge amount of space to move about inside of it.
Basically, if space is important to you on the road, then a Class-B is not going to be worth it. If you care more for saving money while still traveling in a decent amount of comfort, then a Class-B is going to be worth buying.
Does Coachmen Make a Small Class-B RV?
Yes. You will want the Beyond. This is a little bit over 22-feet, so ever so slightly larger than the Winnebago Solis Pocket. it does boast much in the same way of features, though. This means that you will be able to enjoy seating, a kitchen, a shower, and a bed.
The main reason why you may want to opt for this above the Solis Pocket is the fact that you have a lot more space inside. Well, 3 plus feet more space, but it certainly feels a bit roomier. It means that everything inside is a lot less compressed.
If you aren’t a fan of the Coachmen Beyond, then anything built on a modern Ford chassis should be roughly the same length. Although, in our experience, they tend not to perform as well as the Coachmen Beyond does.

Can You Make Your Own Small Class-B RV?
Yes. We know that there are some people that would argue that they are not true Class-B RVs. However, when you realize a Class-B RV is nothing more than a converted van, then you will probably have no issues putting them into the same category.
You can convert most vans into a Class-B RV. It requires a little bit of knowledge, but it is certainly possible. Because of that, you can find a short van and convert that however you want. It may even work out cheaper than buying a brand-new RV, although it may not be completed to the same standard.
Almost every single van can be converted into a Class-B RV. However, do bear in mind that the shorter the vehicle, the less you will be able to include inside of it. We believe that a 19-foot long vehicle is about as short as you want to go before you really start to compromise on features.

The smallest Class-B RV on the market is the Winnebago Solis Pocket. If you want something slightly more spacious without adding too much extra length, then you can pick yourself up a camper built on an extended Ford Transit or Sprinter chassis.
If you want anything drastically short, then you will want to make your own Class-B RV from a more standard minivan. You can do this by purchasing a van and then converting it. Although, of course, this is going to take a ridiculous amount of effort to do. You will be unlikely to fit everything that you need inside of the van too.
