We are keen to share with you the art trends for 2022!
We always keep our eyes and ears open to find out what is happening in the art world. We have been browsing collections and reading blogs of leading international galleries to discover what is new and exciting this year (Saatchi, Artspace, Affordable Art and Maddox Gallery among others).
A return to figurative art is one of the dominant trends of 2022. Artworks with strong references to the real world are taking back the stage, particularly those featuring human figures, but also landscapes and still-lives.

Portraits and figures
The long periods spent confined at home and in isolation over the past two years, have certainly influenced this new trend. People now have an intense desire to see other people, to feel emotionally connected to them. Hence the new interest in portraits and figures in art.

Floral compositions and landscapes
Nature and landscapes have been timeless subjects of artworks and are very popular this year. While confined, we have also become more and more aware of the importance of creating a pleasant space at home, and the soothing effect of being immersed in nature. We can bring the outside world in with art. Floral compositions can add a cheerful touch, while views of familiar places or imaginary lands can create a calming environment.

Animal portraits
Animal portraits are in fashion, as artists convey the majesty of the animal kingdom, or approach this traditional genre with humour. If you are looking for a light-hearted touch to your space, this could be the perfect addition.

Abstract art
While a resurgence of figurative art is a new trend, abstract art continues to be explored and reinvented by artists and favoured by art lovers. The bright palette of pop-art is still a major influence on contemporary art and bright artworks can certainly bring colour and energy into a space. You can choose calmer colours instead for a relaxing effect, like shades of green and brown, among the most in vogue this year.
