The most common use of Class/Char data in the PM module is in equipment and functional locationI.
This allows you to easily add additional fields to the equipment and functional locations that are not available in the standard system.
There are many standard reports that support class/chars e.g. IE05, CL30N, etc
Class/Chars can be used in other PM objects such as notification tasks, work centres, task lists, etc
