Material Characteristics
Using material classifications in SAP you can add materialcharacteristics, for example physical dimensions of a material, itscolor or brand. Material characteristics from SAP can be used toextend web store search functionality, so customers will be able tosearch for a product by its characteristics. They can be also usedfor facets to filter the catalog by material characteristics, andshown on the product list and product details pages as productspecifications.
Material characteristics can be added in the material masterdata, onthe Classification tab.
In the Classification window, you can addcharacteristics of a material and their values.
Those classes which you are using to add materialcharacteristics in SAPmust be also added totheProduct Classification Mapping table.Only material characteristics of the classes added to this tablewill be available in Sana Admin for indexing to configure web storesearch, facetted filters and product specifications. When characteristics are added to the materials in SAP you canopen Sana Admin, click: Setup > ERPIntegration > Index fields, and extendyour web store search capabilities with material characteristics.You can add material characteristic fields from SAP to thefilter andkeyword fields and update product index to retrieve materialcharacteristics from SAP.
You can also use these fields to filter the catalog in the webstore using facets.
In Sana Admin click: Setup >Navigation & search > Facettedfilters.

Material characteristics from SAP can be used not only to extendyour web store search capabilities, but also to show productspecifications in the Sana web store.

Translate material characteristics
The field names of the material characteristics can betranslated to different languages in SAP. If your web store ismulti-lingual, you can show the field names of the materialcharacteristics in different languages in your Sana web store.
Step 1: To add the field names of the materialcharacteristics in different languages, call the transactionCharacteristics Management(CT04).
Step 2: In the Characteristicfield, enter the technical name of the material characteristic.
You can find the technical names of the material characteristicsby executing the GetEntityFields request eitherusing Debug ERP request in Sana Admin orManualProcess Requests in SAP.
Step 3: On the Descriptionstab, select a language and add a translation of the materialcharacteristic.
