After your checkup, you will be given a choice of treatment options. These options will include all of the available NHS and private treatments. Your dentist will make it clear to you which treatments can be provided under the NHS and which can only be provided on a private basis so you can make an informed choice.
All our dentists provide a full range of private treatments and you can mix NHS and private treatments at any time. Once we have worked out your treatment plan with you, we will provide you with a fully itemised written quotation.
NHS Treatment
The focus of NHS dentistry is clinical need. This means that NHS dentistry exists to maintain your oral health and eliminate the presence of dental disease.
It includes all of the dental treatments necessary to maintain good oral/dental health and if necessary, to restore the function of your dental health in the most cost-effective way possible. This includes regular check-ups at intervals specific to your individual needs, fillings, treatment of gum disease or the fitting of crowns and bridges, amongst other things.
Private Treatment
At The Smile Team, we are able to provide a wide range of Private and Cosmetic treatments. This includes the latest techniques in non-metal containing crowns(Emax®) and invisible braces (Invisalign®). We are also able to provide implant placement and implant retained crowns within the practice.
A number of our dentists have also undergone specialist training and are able to provide advanced treatment for Implants, Endodontics, Periodontology and Invisalign.
Private treatment gives us complete freedom to provide the very highest standard of treatment and materials. As cosmetic treatment is not available on the NHS this means the materials/treatments which produce the best appearance are often not used in NHS treatment.
Private work, such as dentures crowns, bridges and implants are sent to highly specialised laboratories, where experienced technicians make the item to the highest quality using superior materials.
NHS patients can choose a private treatment option if they wish without it affecting their NHS status. Patients are able to mix treatment options and have NHS and private work the same course of treatment.
