Firmware updates are released on an as-needed basis for LG Smart TVs. These updates are used to enhance current features, fix bugs and in some cases add additional applications.

Steps will be the same for all LG WebOS TV models.
Firmware can be updated manually by downloading the update file from lg.com onto a USB storage device. To perform the update you'll need:
- An empty USB flash drive with 1GB or greater of storage
- A computer with internet access

Find Your Product
- Visit the support page.
- Enter your LG TV model number into the search bar.
- Select your LG TV model from the drop-down list.

Download the latest software zip file
- Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the PC.
- Make a folder on the USB drive named: "LG_DTV".
- Right-click the zip file firmware name then select Extract All into the LG_DTV folder on the flash drive.
- Once the extraction is complete, eject the USB drive from the computer and remove it.

Insert the USB into the USB port on the TV
Note
The folder must be named exactly as show above. The TV will look only for this specific folder when searching for updates.
- If the steps were completed properly, the LG TV will display USB UPDATE READY.
- Select INSTALL.
Follow the instructions on the LG TV to complete update.
Note
The update can take between 3 to 5 minutes to install.
- Once the install is completed, power OFF the LG TV for 10 seconds then back on to complete the update.

Please select the WebOS version of your LG TV:

WebOS 22
- Go to Settings > All Settings > Support.
- Select Software Update.
- Select Check for Updates and if an update is available Download and Install.
- Once download is complete, power OFF the TV for 10 seconds then power ON to install the update.
If you wish to have the TV update automatically, set Auto Update to on.

WebOS 6.0
- Go to Settings > All Settings > Support.
- Select Software Update.
- Select Check for Updates and if an update is available Download and Install.
- Once download is complete, power OFF the TV for 10 seconds then power ON to install the update.
If you wish to have the TV update automatically, set Auto Update to on.

WebOS 5.0
- Go to Settings > All Settings > Support.
- Select Software Update.
- Select Check for Updates and if an update is available Download and Install.
- Once download is complete, power OFF the TV for 10 seconds then power ON to install the update.
If you wish to have the TV update automatically, set Auto Update to on.

WebOS 4.0 or 4.5
- Go to Settings > All Settings > General.
- Select About this TV.
- Select Check for Updates and if an update is available Download and Install.
- Once download is complete, power OFF the TV for 10 seconds then power ON to install the update.
If you wish to have the TV update automatically, set Auto Update to on.

WebOS 3.5 or older
- Go to Settings > All Settings > General.
- Select About this TV.
- Select Check for Updates and if an update is available Download and Install.
- Once download is complete, power OFF the TV for 10 seconds then power ON to install the update.
If you wish to have the TV update automatically, set Auto Update to on.
