Hex bolts are six sided hexagonal fasteners, which are available in various designs, including a flange type or a socket type. The metric designation of an M6 Hex Bolt indicates that its diameter is about 6mm. Available in various m6 hex bolt dimensions, these fasteners may be produced in various materials ranging from stainless steel to carbon steel, alloy steel, etc. While the m6 hex bolt head is indicative of the shape of its top or head, their functionality separates the other varieties.
For instance, an m6 hex flange bolt is used in applications where the combination of a hex bolt and a washer may be replaced by the former. In this type of fasteners, the lower part of the m6 hex bolt head dimensions also has a broader base, that performs the task of a washer, without the need of an actual washer. So they essential aid in the distribution of load across the fastener. In the case of an Allan bolt or an m6 hex socket bolt, there are special keys required to fasten or loosen the bolts, thereby making them effectively tamper proof, and giving them more of a permanent seal.
These types of m6 hex bolt and nut aren’t easily taken off by the use of an ordinary spanner or wrench, as the Allan key has special grooves that make it virtually impossible to loosen them. Common in construction and machine assemblies, an m6 hex cap bolt has a washer face on the surface bearing with a chamfered end. Generally, the bolting process of these fasteners involves the use of an m6 hex bolt wrench size that corresponds to the diameter of the hex head. Although these fasteners may be coated as protective details, the m6 hex bolt black finish is popular, as it protects against oxidation as well as for aesthetic look.
