WHAT IS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)?

PRP is a natural product derived from the patient’s own blood to help tissue heal and help grow new cells and hair follicles. It contains a high concentration of platelets and natural growth factors. PRP can be applied topically, injected into the skin, or combined with other procedures like microneedling to attain the desired outcome.

The treatment is well tolerated and typically requires a series of treatments for optimal results. The best thing about PRP is that there is little to no downtime and minimal side effects. This is 100% natural, free of additives and chemicals, and packed full of your own plasma ready for skin rejuvenation. These specific growth factors when injected stimulate collagen production and providing an anti-aging effect on the facial appearance.

PRP Injections Under-Eye

Utilizing PRP injections under the eyes stimulates growth of collagen and elastin due to growth factors and cytokines found in plasma. Treatment is typically performed in 3 cycles a month apart. Results generally last six to twelve months. PRP under-eye treatment is an excellent way to treat dark circles, tighten loose skin, increase blood flow to this region. This is true “liquid gold.”

Benefits:

  • Improve Dark Circles
  • Rejuvenated Appearance
  • Repair Collagen & Elastin Layer
  • Improve Crepey Skin

How Is the Treatment Performed:

First a blood draw will be performed by the provider, the sample of blood is then placed into a specialized centrifuge and plasma is separated from the red blood cells, the PRP is then injected under-eye using a micro-cannula.

Additional treatments for under-eye:

Pairing microneedling with under-eye injections of PRP and topical application of PRP can achieve overall improvement in wrinkles, skin laxity, complexion, and pore size.

How to Prepare for the Treatment:

  • Drink plenty of water. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. Drink at least 60 oz of water daily starting at least two days before the treatment.
  • Avoid blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, Ginkgo, Garlic, Flax, Cod Liver Oil, Fish Oil, and multivitamins; a minimum of 7 days prior to the procedure.
  • Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications 7 days prior to procedure. Please consult a physician if you are taking these medications for a medical condition before discontinuing. We want inflammation to occur-as this is one of the mechanism by which PRP works.
  • Minimize or avoid alcohol consumption 3 days before.
  • Refrain or minimize smoking prior as this impacts healing process.
