The C states on a CPU reduce voltage and so on when your CPU is idle, it does this to save power. However, as soon as the CPU is put under load it goes back to full power again. So turning this off will have no impact on performance.

C6 is a power state available to the processor as a power-saving measure. The only effect it would have is if you leave the computer idle for a while. You might notice a slight bit of lag when you first use the computer as the processor changes power states.

Unless you are overclocking, I'd leave it alone. It won't add any performance over what you already have, but it doesn't take away any either.

FAQs

Cpu features: Core C6 state??? ›

C-states, which we use as part of this solution, are sleep states that the individual cores of the processor can go into when idle. They range from C0 to C1 and C1E, to C6. C0 is a running state, C1 and C1E are shallow sleep states, and C6 is the deepest sleep state which provides the most energy savings.

What is C6 state in CPU? ›

Sleep States - CPU's clock is stopped and voltage reduced (most common states listed) C2 - CPU clock is stopped. C3 - CPU clock is stopped and voltage reduced. C6 - CPU internal/external clocks are stopped, voltage reduced or powered off.

What is core C6 mode? ›

C6 is a lower power state than c3. It's only used when your PC is idle or sleeping to turn off more unused parts. It won't make any difference to gaming since you shouldn't be in a low power state.

Should I disable CPU C-states? ›

If you "Disable C-States" it can help a little bit which can be done via bios or toggled on or off with a program called ThrottleStop. Basically you'll gain a good 100MHz roughly better performance than you would otherwise due to CPU multiplier fluctuating back and fourth between min and max settings.

What is the C6 power functionality? ›
