Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups:
I saw a recipe awhile back in a magazine for Homemade Peanut Butter Cups and I wanted to give it a try. I am a total sucker for Reese’s cups so I thought I could always have them on hand when I was in the mood for one.
Well, I didn’t have all of the ingredients on hand, but I was able to do some tweaking and they turned out fabulous! They are easy to make and taste super yummy.
They are that good. It is definitely hard to resist these little bite size goodies! Once you make these, you will make Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups all the time.
Perfect for gift giving!
These are such a hit that we make them often. We also make them to give to friends and family during the holidays.
Everyone looks forward to these delicious peanut butter cups. You can’t go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter, it is my favorite candy combination.
These would be the perfect treat to add to a cookie tray or to take to your next cookie exchange party!
Chocolate Tips to try!
We love making recipes that we change up the ingredients! These peanut butter cups are no exception.
- Dark chocolate lovers will love this variety. Simply substitute dark chocolate chips in the recipe and it is so good.
- We have even used white chocolate chips for a change.
- They are also really pretty if you drizzle some white chocolate on top of the milk chocolate. You can also drizzle the milk chocolate on the white.
- You can also sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top of the chocolate.
- Try making homemade peanut butter.
- If you can’t use peanut butter, almond butter works great also.
- I make an assortment of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate. They look so pretty on a dessert tray for parties. Everyone always wants the recipe and they just can’t believe how easy it is.
What saucepan to use?
The best saucepan we like using is a double boiler. However, ifyou don’t have a double boiler, just use a small to medium sized saucepan with a larger metal mixing bowl on top.
Fill the saucepan with just enough water to sit below the bottom of the mixing bowl. Either way, the Chocolate peanut butter cups will be amazing!
Ingredients:
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- Graham Cracker Sheets,
- Peanut Butter
- Light Corn Syrup
- Mini muffin liners
How to make Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups:
Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler. (*If you don’t have a double boiler, just use a small to medium sized saucepan with a larger metal mixing bowl on top. Fill the saucepan with just enough water to sit below the bottom of the mixing bowl.)
Place 16 mini muffin paper cup liners in mini muffin cups.
Drop about 1 teaspoon of chocolate into each muffin tin. Spread the chocolate around and up the sides a bit.
In a small mixing bowl, combine peanut butter, graham cracker crumbs, and corn syrup. The peanut butter filling will be quite stiff.
Form small balls (about 1 teaspoon full) from the peanut butter mixture. Flatten the ball slightly with a small spoon and set gently in the melted chocolate in the muffin liner.
Add another teaspoon or so of remaining chocolate in each muffin liner, covering the peanut butter layer and sides.
Let chill in the fridge for about an hour or the freezer for 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
You can also use coconut oil in the recipe if you prefer.
How to store:
These chocolate peanut butter cups are best to keep in the refrigerator in a air-tight container. They are the perfect chocolate treat any time of the year!
They do get melty pretty fast if set out at room temperature too long.
Everyone will love this Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups Recipe!
If we are giving these as gifts, I like to use some of these candy wrappers to make them look pretty. If you would rather not individually wrap them, you can use a favor or treat box.
You will want to save this recipe because they are also great for Valentine’s Day.
We love to make these to hand out and everyone goes crazy over them.
