This article provides information on the build version delivered with the latest Bitdefender product update. It also shows you how to manually update the Bitdefender security solution installed on your Windows computer.
The current build of Bitdefender
Bitdefender needs to be updated daily, and it frequently updates its signatures multiple times within a day. However, when it comes to product updates that involve changing the version number, they occur less frequently, typically once every 4 weeks. These updates are important for improving product performance, adding new features, and enhancing security.
Bitdefender’s most recent version number is 27.0.30.136 and was released on February 20, 2024.

Note: If your Bitdefender has a different build number, please note that product updates are being released gradually. Once the staged rollout update reaches 100%, Bitdefender will recommend restarting Windows to enjoy the new version’s added benefits.

How to check what build number you are on
To verify the build version of your Bitdefender product:
- Bring up the Bitdefender interface.
- Click on the round icon in the top right corner, near your username.
- Your current build version appears at the bottom, in the Product information panel.
As an alternative, you can do the following to find Bitdefender’s build version:
- Right-click the Bitdefender icon
at the right end of the taskbar next to the Windows clock, and then select About. Click the tiny upward pointing arrow on the taskbar if the B icon is not visible next to the Windows clock. You can refer to the image below for help if you have difficulties finding the Bitdefender icon in the notification area. - The Build number is displayed under Product information.

How to Update Bitdefender to the latest version
Automatic update
By default, Bitdefender performs automatic updates when you turn on your computer and every hour after that. When an update is detected, it is automatically downloaded and installed.
Manual update
To manually update the Bitdefender security solution installed on your Windows computer:
- Right-click the Bitdefender icon at the right end of the taskbar next to the Windows clock, and then select UpdateNow. Click the tiny upward pointing arrow on the taskbar if the B icon is not visible next to the Windows clock. You can refer to the image below for help if you have difficulties finding the Bitdefender icon in the Windows notification area.
- Wait for the update to reach 100% and complete.
- If a newer build version is available, Bitdefender will prompt you to click the Restart Now button. Otherwise, simply close the update window.
